Hetherington Family of Alnwick and Glendale
By 1901 the older Hetheringtons had moved from Alnwick to Alnwick Moor, and Thomas the father was working as a labourer in a whinstone quarry. Living with their parents were three sons: William and Henry who were both working as agricultural labourers, and George (aged 10, actually c 13 years old) who was at school. Also listed were a grandson Thomas Alexander Hetherington (b 1897, mother's maiden name Hetherington), aged 4, and a daughter ‘Mary Thompson’ (aged 24), who was apparently married, but who is otherwise unidentified. No evidence of a marriage has been found [Note 2] Thomas Alexander's birth was registered in the Spring of 1897, and he was baptised on 21st August 1897 in Alnwick. His parents were named as Andrew and Catherine Hetherington, although no other record of his parentage has been found so far.[Note 3]
